  1. A big Amen, Mary. It seems people have forgotten how to have a civil, quiet conversation with an exchange of ideas. My way to deal with being on the receiving end of some pretty nasty, loud words is just to shake my head, utter a hmm, and leave it at that because let’s face it, when someone is spewing off, they can’t hear anything I say. As a retired mental health professional, when clients would get loud, my response was to lean in and speak ever so softly. It usually worked to quiet things down. And it worked with my children, too!

  2. Thank you, Mary, for today’s reading. So very true. It makes you stop and analyze yourself for certain and ensure the words spoken allow Him to shine through us. It’s “funny” when you stop and think back on how others spoke and the impact that had on you. Most leaders at the Global Leadership Summit – how they speak – pulls you in and you have major take-aways for your business, team, family etc. Others you find yourself taking another sip of coffee or maybe checking your phone so the impact not as great. Another interesting example – I’ve had doctors who have taken the time to hold your hand and share tough news but in such a way that you were comforted, while a regular doctor just going through the routine check-up, yelling for what reason I do not know, but it makes you want to look for a new doctor. Thank you for sharing.

  3. This was perfect Mary! Lord, please give me the strength, wisdom and compassion to follow the roadmap that you gave to Paul for us. In Jesus’ name, amen.

  4. Thank you Mary! The delivery of our words are soooo important. I have a tendency to listen and be kinder to perfect strangers than to someone closer to me. I think I know everything!!!!
Great message to start my week, Thank you \0/

  5. Amen to that! My mom used to have a saying, “There’s no yelling in this house unless its on fire!” Lol Thank you for this encouragement Mary.

  6. Dear Mary…..
What a great devotion today. Maybe if my son is still stalking me to see what I was saying. He is the one that should definitely read your wise words I can’t comment any further as he reads everyone and I don’t know how he found out I loved the (in)courage community for their words and suggestions.
