  1. I felt this in my soul. Beautiful! Thank you for sharing! Made me cry and also made me smile!!

“Simple words of encouragement are the uncomplicated gift we can give without cost or limit.” ~ Yes, yes yes!

Thanks for the beautiful reminders! Curious, how old are your boys now? Beautiful names too 🙂

  2. What a great memory Becky. I bet you cry and smile each time you remember that day!
I love God’s acts of kindness, whatever form it comes…. a person, nature, a giggle or a memory

“A glad heart makes a happy face”
    Proverbs 15:13 (NLT)
    …a personal favorite. Thank you

    Have a wonderful blessed day!

  3. I was standing introducing myself to some of my brother’s friends at a party for my brother & sister-in-law’s 50th wedding anniversary yesterday afternoon when my brother came to give me a hug. As he pulled me in he started to give his condolences for the pup we had had to put down the morning before. I responded with a return hug and a “don’t be nice to me!”. I had no desire to be a puddle in the middle of his party! The couple standing with us questioned that exchange and when explained helped us grieve & laugh simultaneously. Knowing that you are seen, supported and loved gives bravery to experience life in each moment whether in joy or in sorrow.
Blessings to all at (in)courage for making us all a bit braver to face each day as it comes, secure in God’s presence!

  4. What an uplifting story, Becky. I too have been encouraged by kind words–some I remember to this day, even though they were spoken long ago! I’ve also tried to be on the giving end of supportive comments and have found that I receive an endorphin rush from the smiles and gratitude (and sometimes a hug!) of the receiver. I can imagine that group of senior-citizen cheerleaders laughing and smiling with one another after you left that day, so pleased with themselves for lifting your spirit! And no doubt God was smiling too.

  5. I felt like I was right there. Beautifully written and a wonderful reminder that encouragement can truly be life-giving.

  6. Becky,

Made me cry. My new full time job changed drastically a few weeks ago giving me more work to do (stock 28 ICU rooms). Often times I have felt like my job isn’t important. One day walking through ICU waiting room a woman approached me & said thank you for stocking the rooms. a day or so later someone called me an angel. WOW! I made a difference to her. God is so awesome. He knows when we need an endorphin rush.

    Blessings 🙂
