  1. Thank you for blessing your readers with this writing, Melissa. Your wisdom and conviction are relatable and palpable. I agree the access we get to information on the internet can be a positive in so many ways, and yet at what cost? I see the cost as the connectedness of humanity being torn apart and pitted against each other, which appears to be increasingly apparent. It is difficult to discern truth from fiction, whether it be news on any level, photos, or hijacked identities. We need to honor and stay true to the on Absolute Truth, who is God, and quiet the rest of the noise and distraction, especially during this Advent season.

  2. First and foremost, I pray your brother is at peace and that you and your family will find peace and comfort in your souls. Second, congratulations on your wedding and new career. third, thank you for your post. I agree 100% while the internet has its benefits it also sucks us into places we shouldn’t linger in too long. I enjoyed your memories of dial up internet and myspace – reminds me of when my children were young – happy memories. thank you.

  3. I have succumbed to content fatigue in the past so that is why I don’t have any social media apps on my phone. I also snooze or unfollow family and friends who posts are a constant stream of negativity. Like you, I love learning and see the internet as a useful tool, but just like using a hammer or drill, I put that tool back in the toolbox when done.

  4. Dear Melissa……………I am at an age that I never did get involved with Social Media as 2 times I tried I ended up getting scammed ans I really didn’t need to know what many people ate for breakfast. I have a Senior Computer which gives me access to the Internet and it is very easy to navigate. I don’t even have a cell phone as my then husband would not allow that as he thought I could hide things from him. So by the time I had to split with him for reasons I’m sure everyone who is regularly on here know, it was too late and my 1 son would not help me so I just have a Trac Phone that I can use to take calls and make calls when I go out somewhere. I do have a landline that takes voice mails and it is great. As many have said here, I have enough other things I have to do to spend all my time with those other things. I also have dipped into fatigue in this facility that I live in. Times for meals and everything else are specific and don’t be late or you can get scolded. I need time to do things for me and I am working on moving to a place that has all these features. Thank you Melissa and please have a Blessed Christmas and New Year with your friends and family. I send my love to you…………………..Betsy
