  1. Oh My GOODNESS Jenny…what a beautiful and SIMPLE message for me today!…..

“It’s a reminder that what we bring — our faith, our courage, our presence — has the power to shift the atmosphere around us.”
….. I do not have, but what I do have is …”
I have a bit of a challenging work environment due to the fact my co-workers do not get along. Your message today just reminded me ” my presence is where God has put me and I may not “have ABC”, but what I do have is….. ”
    Thank you \0/

    • Janet…..I loved your comment and that is a situation I went through during my work years. I am sure you will do what you can to help people straighten out your fellow employees. You sound like a very nice person and I am so glad I read your comment. It brought back so many memories from my past. May God Bless you and your week will go well. Love to you………..Betsy

  2. Good Morning Jenny, I started to read your devotional and I wondered to myself what it meant for me, but as I read on and read the whole thing. It was crystal clear what I was doing was what Jesus wanted me to do. I have struggled living in this Senior facility as I am 77 years old and the youngest of the 100 residents that live here. There are many that did not either care for me or even like me. I look different to them as I had been a manager for 45 years of my work life and always needed to dress appropriately, but I have always been this way. My mother told me I was picky about what to wear as soon as 3 years and that has never changed. Many of the residents said I was showing off, but they did not know the heartbreaking season I was in as I always had a smile on my face which is my way and what Jesus wants me to do, but now after being here almost 2 years and I kept trying to help as many as I could, there was trust building among those people that were not very nice to me in the beginning. It makes me so happy if people give me a chance they see that I am not who they thought I was. So I will continue to help wherever I can and I will save your devotional to re-read when I am downtrodden. Jenny, I thank you so much for sharing your story as it really has encouraged me to continue on. Please enjoy your week knowing that you made me think exactly what I was doing was the right thing……………Love to you…………….Betsy

    • Betsy – so good to see you posting again. I was getting concerned since I hadn’t seen you pop up for a while and was praying you were okay.

  3. Thank you for sharing this beautiful reminder.

Also, thank you to you and your husband for living out a calling. I have had several conversations recently about how the church has become a family business. A father pastors, and then his son or son-in-law, and then perhaps a brother-in-law … but it stays within the family. I keep asking, what ever happened to ministers being called?!

Praying for you and your family. May you be blessed with peace and assurance in every moment.

  4. Jenny,

Your devotion hit home. So beautiful and I love that it carried some of Icelandic nomenclature to our hot midwest!

Alway fun to learn something new!

    Sending you end-of-summer joy,

    Lisa

  5. Thank you for this, Jenny! I often fall into the trap of thinking I’ve “missed my calling” by somehow taking the wrong path in life or failing to live up to what the world calls success. I’ve learned to remind myself, though, that our calling is to glorify God in whatever we do, just as you describe changing the atmosphere wherever we are. I love thinking of it as changing the atmosphere; I’ll take that imagery with me. Blessings and best wishes to you.
