  1. My husband and I are both perfectionists. This really spoke to me, inspired me, and blessed me. Thank you for sharing your gift of writing. Also I see that you were born in India. Nearly 19 years ago when my husband began looking at engagement rings, I told him I didn’t want a real diamond because the movie Blood Diamond was out, and my sister said, “I would never want a real diamond”. I wanted a fake diamond but wanted to feel valuable, so we chose to sponsor another child through Compassion International. We selected a child from India (we both wanted to sponsor a child from India). And we selected a specific age and “longest waiting child”. Only one child came up on the website: his name was Prashanth. We sponsored him until he was around 20. Also he started every letter, “Dear Mum and Dad, David and Amber” and signed it “Your loving Son, Prashanth”. This was so special to us especially because we were never able to have children of our own. God is so faithful.

    • Amber, thanks for the blessing of sharing your sweet, heartwarming story. These life events show how our lives truly are woven by the Master Weaver and come to reality when we act from the place of goodness and charity.

    • I am glad my words encouraged you! Wow- thanks for sharing that story. You have a beautiful heart, friend!

  2. Thank you for this. God has been calling me to a new season and a new purpose using gifts that are all new to me. It is definitely scary but I am trying to be faithful and trust that He will help me do what I need to.

I especially loved the picture of God watching us unwrap the gifts He has given us.

    Thank you.

  3. What an encouraging, uplifting devotional. I will be reading it over and over again. Thank you for sharing these words of truth with us to help us learn to accept the gift, open the gift, enjoy the gift. I’ve often wondered if I’m getting it right and you can Google me, “Sharon Baker Crazy Goat Lady” to see the gifts God has placed in my care. Thank you, Simi… we will both try to remember the words of wisdom God placed on your heart to share and encourage others.

    • I relate to that so much! We just have to trust God more than we trust the gift to have boldness and do the thing He has given us!

  4. Simi, that was so beautifully shared as I am feeling a calling for women’s ministeries in my new church and even community. Reluctant and fearfully taking those first steps. My first message last night was so beautifully blessed by my Lord and Savior, Jesus. I want to be a shining light for my Jesus.

    • As a lead Pastors wife can I just say how valuable your gift is to the body and I am so proud of you for trusting God and stepping into obedience!
