Sister, you have been called.
Not just to a job, a role, or a title, but to a life. A life of purpose. A life set apart for God’s glory. A life that matters.
Some days, it doesn’t feel that way. Maybe you’re knee-deep in laundry, overwhelmed at work, or wondering if anything you do actually makes a difference. Maybe the weight of discouragement or comparison is pressing hard against your heart. But hear this:
Your life is not an accident. Your days are not wasted. You are created on purpose for a purpose.
Paul’s words in Ephesians 4 remind us to live worthy of our calling. That doesn’t mean we have to hustle for our worth or prove our value. No, our worth is already secured in Christ. Instead, it’s an invitation to walk in a way that reflects the One who called us. To choose humility over pride. Gentleness over harshness. Patience over irritation. Love over judgment.
It’s a high calling. One we can’t fulfill on our own. But here’s the good news: We’re not meant to. God’s Spirit in us empowers us to live with intention. His grace sustains us when we fall short. His strength carries us forward when we feel weak. And we don’t walk this road alone. We are part of one body, bound together in love and anchored in the hope of Christ.
So today, wherever you find yourself — whether in the mundane or the momentous — live knowing that you are called. Your life matters. And by God’s grace, you can walk worthy of the calling He has placed on you.
Lord, thank You for calling me to a life of purpose. When I feel discouraged or distracted, help me fix my eyes on You. Fill me with Your Spirit so I can walk in humility, love, and patience. Remind me that my life matters, not because of what I do, but because of who You are. By Your grace, may I live worthy of the calling You have placed on me. Amen.

Amen! I’m thankful you post encouraging devotionals even on weekends. 🙂 This morning at 10am, my husband and I are speaking at our previous church about our homeless ministry (facing Goliath). If anyone reads this please say a prayer that it goes well, that God is glorified, and most importantly for healing in relationships between us and the people there. May we be a blessing to their church, in Jesus’ name. Amen!

Laurie, thank you so much. Praise God it went really well and there was healing in relationships with some of the people there. The church wants to give more for gloves (in winter) and help us pay for the devotionals we hand out.

Thank you, Gail! It went even better than I expected. Glory to God. Many old friendships were healed. We used to go to church there but left about 6 years ago. They want to help us with meeting more needs as well.

It is hard to see the purpose in our lives. Our aim should be to glorify God in ALL that we do. Make His love & light shine through in this sin darkened world. Spread sunshine by smiling at people & saying hello. Encourage coworkers by telling them what a good job they are doing. But first we must look up & change our focus from us to Jesus. Remind ourselves what He has done for us. Go about your day singing praises & showing this world a little Jesus.

I thank Jesus for your devotions even on the weekend. It gives me the strength to get ready for church and thank God for your community. In the season that I have been in for almost 5 years now, all of you have helped me to understand things and also has encouraged me not to give up on unanswered prayers. I have always been impatient since I was a young girl, but thanks to you, I am doing better with that. I have said this before, but I do really feel that my Holy Spirit nudged me to see your website as He knows that you would help take care of me. I love all of you and appreciate your wise words. Like the song that comes to mind “Bind us together Lord with cords that can’t be broken” No matter what we go through to keep our eyes on you Lord and go to you in Prayer and seek your will about it.
