“None of the good promises the LORD had made
to the house of Israel failed. Everything was fulfilled.”
Joshua 21:45, HCSB
Every Promise Ever Made . . .
The wall next to the fridge holds the yearly calendar, where every square for every day gets filled with scribbles of plans. Then, after 365 days, we take down the old calendar and replace it with a new one — one with shiny clear spaces, awaiting new scrawls and doodles, all imbued with daily importance as we work and serve and play and dream.
Every new year holds new promise, new potential.
Perhaps this will be the year we fulfill all of our New Year’s resolutions.
Perhaps this will be the year we finish each of our goals with fervor and resolve.
Perhaps this will be the year we finally achieve those long-awaited dreams.
But if all the Januaries prior are any indicator, then all the promises and resolutions we make become fertile soil for disappointment in their wake. Yes, we’ll make good on some. But we’ll fall short on others.
There’s only One who can and will and already has fulfilled every promise He ever made.
None of the good promises the LORD had made to the house of Israel failed. Everything was fulfilled. (Joshua 21:45)
If God said it, He will come through on it.
God alone can be counted on, even as we count each day. For He is the same yesterday and today and tomorrow too. God stands by His Word because He is the Word.
So as I walk past the new calendar on the wall next to the fridge and think about all the things I want to accomplish this new year, I pause to give thanks to the One who has already fulfilled every promise He made, not only to the Israelites in the past, but to all of His children today.
What are you most looking forward to in 2017?

Thank you for this reminder, Denise. I love what you said, “God stands by His word, because He IS the Word.” That’s an anchor to hang onto. Really appreciate that!

Denise,
So thankful that God fulfills ALL of His promises…He never falls short like we do. I am most looking forward to just spending good, quiet days with my husband. In a few weeks we will celebrate 3 years….three of the most wonderful years of my life. I thank God for him every morning when I wake. I look forward to continuing to serve the children in the Middle East…supporting the staff of the school we operate because every day of their lives, they literally risk their lives in bringing Jesus and the hope of an education to the children. But, before I do all that, I first need to commit to spending more time just being in God’s holy presence. He is the source of my hope and strength and without Him and the power of Jesus, I can do NOTHING.
Happy New Year,
Bev xx

There’s a company called Traveleyes that takes blind and sighted people on holiday. I almost went with them to South Africa last year, but the long flight and getting to know all new people felt like too much. I think I’m going to take the risk this year and book my first Traveleyes holiday.

Denise, thank you. You are right. He will do what He says He will do in His time, not ours. Phil 1:6 Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ

To honor God more to be aware of his presence in my daily activities and those activities would always involve the right type of attitude because of who lam aso a result of what God did more reverence unto the God of my salvation. I know this is a woman’s ministry but I stumbled upon it and it’s powerful I share it with my wife

Amen Ricky. Agree so powerful!

Thank you that is very encouraging. I am most looking forward to visiting my mom. We lived together for 30 years and for the first time in my life it’s been 6 months since I’ve seen her. We are now separated by 13 states.

In 2017 I pray God’s people will let His light shine through us brighter than ever before, in all that we do, in all that we say, wherever we go, and to whoever He places in our path.
Happy New Year!

Thanks be to our Abba Father in Heaven that He is so faithful and for each sister and brother hear and each hope that they bring to Him. I pray that this year may bring healing, reconciliation, peace, and His deeper love within that service may be in more humble ways so that He may be seen more clearly in our world 🙂 May each hope here be fulfilled in His loving grace 🙂

I’m awake this morning, full of anticipation to see what God has in store. I’m already seeing glimpses of what that will be & I’m delighted and humbled to share my life to show others how God has always been there for me!

Denise,
I want a more united country. A great revival would be nice-where everyone, everywhere humbles themselves, seeks His face and turns from their wicked ways and prays to God almighty! I’m so tired of all this hype and brouhaha about the election and who won. Let’s get over it and get back to work! Quit whining about what isn’t and thank God for what is and what you have!!! I’m looking forward to working and learning new stuff and spend some time with my aging dad.
Blessings 🙂

I am praying that God will show me what to do with a dog rescue that I am extremely involved in but not director of. Also that several people that I care deeply about, especially my son, will turn to Christ and examine their lives and relationships with others. My heart is breaking because my youngest son is alienating family and friends. The promise of new day everyday in Christ Jesus keeps me going.

“If God said it, He will come through on it.” Such a glorious truth to focus on as we embark upon a new year. Thank you, Denise. I’ve lived long enough to affirm: He most definitely comes through! God has kept promise after promise to us and our family.
