When We Need a Reminder to Give Thanks (a giveaway!)

Tis’ the season for giving thanks, right? There are thankful Facebook statuses, and thankful hashtags to follow on Twitter, and daily Instagram snaps of things we’re thankful for. It’s almost like it’s easier to give thanks in this late autumn season when so many others are giving thanks together.

But what about the rest of the year, on the regular days, in the regular moments, of our regular life? When difficult or even awful things find us? When we get stuck in the monotony of the every day? When the thanks feel few and far between, hard to find?

These are the times, the non-November times, when we need a nudge. A reminder to give thanks in all times—good and bad, easy and difficult, strong and weak.

Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.
– 1 Thessalonians 5:18

I love this elegant reminder that hangs on my living room wall, right in the middle of my home’s main traffic. It gently nudges my heart to remember that giving thanks may be a part of all my days, no matter how they are going. And it reminds me to jump on the thanks giving train when it’s a little easier, because it seems the rest of the world is doing it (and sometimes positive peer pressure is a great gift!).
