I am definitely not a skilled crafter, but I do enjoy making a few new homemade decorations around the holidays. Creating something with your own hands seems like such a domestic thing to do, doesn’t it?
I love being able to make something new out of what I already have on hand, especially when it is a project I can do with my kids. It is a fun yearly tradition to drink hot chocolate (with marshmallows, of course!), listen to Christmas music and spend a little time crafting! Traditions where we spend real quality time making memories with our kids are so important.
The key for me on craft projects is they have to be simple and no fail! I don’t have patience or skill for anything complicated!
If you want to do something fun and creative, here are some extremely easy DIY craft projects for you!
Mason Jar Candles
I have been making very simple Mason Jar candles for years. I use Epsom salt all year round as filler in my jars because it looks like snow in the winter and white sand in the summer! This year, I’ve found a few new creative ways to fancy up the jars any time of year! You can find the instructions for Jingle Bell Jars and more mason jar ideas on my blog, The Inspired Room.
Holiday Shimmer Candles
Speaking of Epsom salt, my friend Emily from Remodeling This Life put together this glittery holiday candle last year using Epsom salt for the sparkles. Who knew Epsom salt was so versatile? You can find her instructions for Holiday Shimmer Candles here.
Simple Craft Garland
For the past few years I’ve put together some VERY simple holiday garland with my kids. You can find last year’s round up of my holiday craft garland ideas here.
