Choosing to Be Led by Andrea Mitchell • Jun 6, 2010 • 8 Comments • 0Shares Download Share I had a lot of roommates in college. My very first living-from-home experience happened at the age of 18. I was anxious to move out on my own and spread my wings. A lovely woman at my church helped me to find a place to live Leave a Comment
Thank you for a post that spoke to my own heart! I too am a list-maker, over-organizer and need to be in control. Praise God he is not finished with me yet! Praying for you!
P.S. Love the scripture references! Going to bookmark those.
This is really convicting and I really needed to hear it today. It is so easy to read through scripture hastily and not take the time to realize how specific sins creep into your life. You so clearly articulated some of my biggest struggles with my sinful/selfish/lazy nature.
“I can’t decide that today I feel like being loving and merciful to my children, but then tomorrow lose my patience and yell at them just because I’m too lazy to do otherwise. I can’t decide this morning that I am going to eat healthfully, and then by 9 this evening raid the pantry for the biggest and gooiest chocolate chip cookies I can find. I can’t decide that right now, in this moment, I am going to serve God with my whole heart, and then later in the week ignore Him when He shows me the sins in my life that need addressing.”
Ouch. So true. This scripture is also going on a wall today. Maybe a couple of walls. 🙂 Thanks for sharing.

Oh, Misty, I am still there – its definitely a daily thing, choosing to live as God has called us to.
You took the words right out of my mouth. Thank you for expressing what I’m too weak to say to myself.
My only wish is that my old nature would just pick up and move out like your old roommate did. Life sure would be easier.
Thank you for the reminder. From a fellow work in progress.
Thank you for posting this, I needed to hear it. It seems to be such a reflection of what my own life is currently. Something I’ve been struggling with A LOT lately. Even when I know what is right and what is wrong.
Thank you too for putting the scripture in there! I’m going to copy those out, print them and post them!
I liked the post. But I was really disappointed in the choice of illustrating photo.
All that cleavage looks more like a stumbling block for men passing by than an (in)couragement to anyone. Thanks for considering your photos more carefully in the future.
