I know it’s the last weekend before Christmas. . . Do you need a paper bag to regulate your breathing?!. . . but I have a little spark, an idea that might bring some joy into your life.
I invited a handful of girlfriends over for peppermint hot cocoa and a few dirty snowballs this past Sunday afternoon. I spit-washed the house, shutting the closet door on my office that has become the Christmas zone, and lit my favorite cinnamon candle. It was such a needed time for all of us.
Amazing how afterward none of us complained about the load of laundry we didn’t wash, the email we didn’t return, or the gift we didn’t wrap. We simply enjoyed conversation by the tree, a warm mug, giggling at new stories, and how we had missed being a girl.
I gave my friends space to be themselves, to have their senses reignited, and more than a moment to catch their breath. I walked away with a fresh spirit to embrace the seaso myself.
Will you call a friend for a chat over a gingerbread latte? Will you ask friends to stop by for a few moment escape from their last minute hustle-bustle this weekend? You could give them a much needed gift.

Wednesday is our Girl’s Night and this was the last one of the month, we had to cancel last week due to all kinds of stuff. This Wednesday I was stranded on the side of the road in a car with a dead alternator about 2 hours before the girls were set to arrive at my apartment. I briefly thought about texting them to cancel… but then I realized that a night with them, fudge and White Christmas was exactly what I needed after a *crazy* day. Spending time with them and just relaxing (even with a messy kitchen) was exactly what I needed.
Thank you Lord for good friends!

I’ve been thinking of you a lot and how you challenged us to make a difference this Christmas. God opened up my schedule today, gave me God-sized ideas, neat opportunities, stretched my faith, and brought me to the close of the day in awe and wonder of how He ministers. All season there has been that underlying question what special thing God would have me do. Today He showed me and it was an incredible experience for me. Thanks for your encouragements. I also realized the blessings we have received in the past may be some we will pass on in the future. What a gift to be a part of His body and Bride. May God grant you neat ideas even if the funds have been used up. Our Creator God is creator and is the Giver of all good gifts, some being blessings in disguise, some being blessings He pours on His glory right before our eyes. To Him be all glory, adoration and praise! Have a blessed Christmas season.
