The Generosity Experiment: Day 10
Finding out what happens when you look for opportunities to give. To start from Day 1, click here.
I have to confess, it’s hard to be generous when I spend most of my waking hours at work. I’m sure it’s just an excuse. But it doesn’t feel like one most days, just my reality.
I pray for God to provide opportunities to give, encounters that He planned before I entered the world, and yet they don’t come. Or maybe they do and I don’t recognize them for what they really are.
God flashes to my mind – listening. I mean the truly engaged with an open mind and heart kind of listening to someone that I either don’t truly care about (shocking, I know!) or to droning that sounds like Charlie Brown’s teacher. . . “Wah wah wah wah wah.” It takes love and sometimes I just don’t have it.
I can easily use my 30,000 words in a day, maybe more. No problem. I wonder if I can listen to that many words a day? It’s my choice and not a one time act.
I must set my heart. My ears will follow. This may be my most difficult give.

Such a good point. I so often zone out or just find myself doing too much of the talking. Great reminder. 🙂 Thanks!
