When you hear the word healing, what comes to mind? This word may bring amazing testimonies to mind or it may bring painful or disappointing memories. My perspective on healing today in my 40s is vastly different than it was in my childhood.
I grew up Catholic in the Bible Belt of the United States. I don’t remember the priest in my church or the nuns in my school ever talking about healing in our lives or God being a Healer. I don’t remember any of the adults around me talking about healing either. I do remember there being lots of conversations about people being sick or dying. There were no real answers or directions attached to those conversations.
Now, I was never a sickly child, so healing for myself was never at the forefront of my thoughts. My grandmother, who I lived with, became sick beginning in my junior high years through high school. She saw numerous doctors and was taking numerous medications. That was the way it was. She passed away during my freshman year of college. During those same years, several family members also passed away.
I never thought anything more than that this was the circle of life. People are born. They live. Then they die. I never knew that people being healed was an option. But I do now. I’ve witnessed it!
With this being a month where we tend to focus on giving thanks, I thought it was fitting to share some of the things that make my heart overflow with gratitude! I am beyond grateful that Jesus is our Great Physician who came to forgive sinners and heal the sick (see Mark 2). I am beyond grateful for the fact that we are healed by His stripes. Jesus was beaten and bruised for our healing. His shed blood paid for our complete healing . . . body, soul, and spirit.
As I’ve gotten older, my body has changed. Things that I never dealt with have all of a sudden become concerns. One of those concerns has been my knees. I’ve never been athletic, but I do love to work out and dance. So, it was a devastating blow in 2018 when I was diagnosed with patella tendonitis in both of my knees. It impacted my life in almost every area. I couldn’t run or work out the way I used to, or kneel to pray at church. It hurt to walk up the stairs to my townhouse and to simply stand up after being seated. But, God!
This past May when I reconnected with my friend Angela, that all changed. She was ministering at an event and ended by praying for people’s needs. I had been prayed for over the years with small glimpses of hope. So, I asked for prayer for something else, but she ended up praying for another woman’s knees over the microphone. I dialed in and told God I received that same healing for myself. And a miracle happened. My knees immediately felt better, but the next day my knees felt amazing! They’ve felt amazing ever since! Five years was a long time to be in pain, but I know God was with me every step of the way. And now I’m so grateful for these six months of healing!
I can’t think of healing and gratitude without thinking about Chans. A couple of summers ago, my friends experienced something that no one ever wants to experience. Alida and Chans and their teenagers Rylee and Carter were driving to church on a Sunday morning. Chans was in the passenger seat. One minute he was talking and the next minute — nothing. He passed out and then his heart stopped. But, God! On their way to the hospital, the kids got word to the youth pastor and he got word to the whole church. In the middle of the service, we stopped everything and prayed for God to bring life back to Chans’s body. The kids still wanted to come to church, so their grandparents picked them up from the hospital and brought them. Again, we stopped everything we were doing, surrounded them, and prayed for life and strength and God’s resurrection power. The Lord heard and He answered. He restored life to Chans’ body! The doctors had no explanation as to why His heart stopped or why it started again. He stayed in the hospital overnight and went home the next day.
That was the greatest miracle I’ve ever witnessed.
You might be thinking that your loved one didn’t get the miracle you were expecting or praying for. These testimonies are simply to build your faith as to what the Lord can do. My miracle was progressive over the years. Chans’ was in a moment. But, I am still waiting on other miracles along with some of my closest people. I’ve also lost loved ones over the years — but they are fully healed in the presence of the Father. I grieved the deep loss with the confident hope that I will see them again one day.
I’m sure the woman with the issue of blood in Mark 5 had all but given up the little hope she had. But, when she heard Jesus was nearby, she tried one more time to find her healing. She persisted and pushed past the crowd just to touch the hem of His garment. She knew the Scriptures in Malachi that said there was healing in His wings, which was the hem of His garment. She believed His Word over the words of every doctor she had seen. She believed He was who He said He was and that He could do what He said He could do. When God moves, He does it wholly. Jesus also honored the woman’s faith and restored her back to her community after years of being isolated and rejected.
Oh that we would believe that today! Oh that we would believe that Jesus’s blood speaks a better Word! Healing is coming. Sometimes it doesn’t come in the way we expected or in the timing we planned on. But know that it’s coming.
Our God loves us. Our God is faithful. Our God is our Healer.
If you’ve experienced a miracle healing, I’d love to hear about it! If you’re still waiting on one, I’d love to pray for you!

God healed my mother’s kidneys She had kidney failure from drugs that doctors gave her for a bacterial infection (2019) putting her on dialysis for two years. She got a 2nd bacterial infection within two years of being on dialysis and it moved to her right eye causing blindness. She was rushed to our major hospital in Birmingham AL and they removed the infection, restored her eye sight. She was moved from the eye hospital to UAB for dialysis the next day. The following day the doctors came in and said Ms Ellis who told you that you needed dialysis, you have kidney disease but you don’t need dialysis.
Praise and Glory to our Living God and Jesus Christ. That was August 2021 she is still improving and will be 81 in February. Our God is so Good!

My niece has been dealing with depression and suicidal thoughts for 10 or 11 years. She’s tired of the overwhelming thoughts that she can’t seem to get her mind to stop replaying. We have been praying so hard for God to help the doctors figure out a way to help her but nothing seems to help. Please pray for the suicidal thoughts to go away and for God to hold her tight and heal her from this depression.

I am in need of physical healing. I have a chronic pain condition called Erythromelalgia since 2003. I have a torn rotator cuff with frozen shoulder. The rotator tear has been since 2019, the frozen shoulder since Jan 2023. This week I am experiencing stiff/strained neck/upper back pain. For several months I have had pain in my low back/hip. It seems that physical suffering is continually my story. It is draining, debilitating, frustrating but somehow I persevere and have hope. I know this is only because of Jesus. I dream of a day that I can know what it feels like to have a pain free body.
Thank you for prayers!

My youngest daughter has a chronic illness that was diagnosed in her senior year of high school. When she went away to college, that illness almost took her life in the first quarter of her freshman year. She endured over 10 years of multiple surgeries, hospitalizations and pain. She still struggles with depression. But she married a wonderful young man and gave birth to a sweet daughter 7 years ago. She’s not completely well, but her life is so much better now! She hasn’t needed to be in the hospital overnight since her daughter was born! That is a miracle. And I thank God for it every day!

Karina, your message brought me to tears of hope and thanksgiving. My now 43 year old daughter, Laura, was diagnosed with encephalitis when she was 2. My normally bubbly child was catatonic for a week. The doctor told me it would be 6 weeks to 6 months before she healed. God had other plans and healed her overnight after my Mom held her and prayed for her! The doctor had no explanation but we know. And Laura has had no complications from this disease
Please pray for our niece,Emily. She is in stage 4 of ovarian cancer and is meeting with her oncologist today to see if there is anything more they can do. We are relying on God’s wisdom and plans. We appreciate your prayers.

I am praying and believing for my adult children to come back to the Lord. They were raised in church so I am standing on the promise of, when they are old, they will not depart. I loved reading your story of your healing and also Chanc’s story. God is still doing miracles, every day. Like you, we all need to make sure we make those miracles known!

I don’t like to feel this way listening, but I’ve been sick my whole life, an immune dx,20 kidney stones, OA in my neck n most joints, hiatal hernia, colon resection on n on. Im a good person, i pray, i help others though in pain, it doesn’t help at all yet i hear complaints about knee pain. I can barely eat or move and rarely leave my house, friends have left because it’s too much, no parents or siblings, im alone. Knee pain? I have hope daily, its what keeps me going. Maybe people should stop complaining about the small inconveniences and look at a bigger picture. Try reaching out to those truly in need, no one ever has here i can tell you and its very disheartening and im disappointed in people. Glad your knee is better though so you can exercise. Not angry, just disappointed that these are the things people are concerned about, for themselves.

Hi Karena,

I am bit late in my reply God loves us all.Does not like us to sick. Sometimes God uses himself to heal us and sometimes God uses Doctors and Hospital treatment to heal us. Sometimes God take us home to be with him. We don’t know why. Families left sad asking why God did you heal that person through prayer and your word or Doctors and Hospital treatment. Why did you not heal that person at all why did you take that person home. It sad for the family. As they will not have them any more on earth. Ours is not to ask why if God took them home especially if they where saved. I know two people that where saved. Families heart broken. That their loved ones never got healed this side of earth. God took them home this side of earth. They believed God for healing so did their families. They had their Church pray for them. They got treatment from their Doctors in their local Hospital. But it not to be. They stood on God’s word for their healing so did their families. But God saw best to take them home to be with him. They have not got them this side of earth. But they will miss them yes on earth. But they have not lost all. They have good memories of day spent together. They can look forward to the day they will see them again when their time up on earth one day in Glory with Jesus. But they did ask God why did he not heal their love one when he healed others through him and the Doctors and Hospital treatment. But they said to themselves God new best to take them home to be with him. Our is not to ask why anymore. We will see them one day in Glory. That is so true they will as all saved. Both had cancer both young. One was a child with bone cancer. One was an adult in her 60teets with cancer. Both sad. I say yes sad for the family but God new best they might not have them on earth any more but they see them in Glory one day again. I say Amen to that. Love the reading. Love Dawn Ferguson-Little Enniskillen Co.Fermanagh N.Ireland in my prayers xx

I have chronic pain in my body due to inflammation from arthritis. Other medical issues as well due to side effects of medicines. I am isolated from church and family and friends because I can’t navigate steps, or stairs or their bathroom is not handi-cap friendly. Karina,
Today (11/19/23) at church we will have a thankful service. Anyone can stand up & tell us what & why they are thankful. I am thankful God brought me out of a mini depression last Fall. Grateful beyond measure that God left the splendor of Heaven, came down to broken Earth & died a horrible death just for us. He spilled his blood to cleanse us from our sins. Our country needs healing from hatred & strife. We desperately need a revival. Lord take away some of the hatred & replace it with your love & peace.
Blessings 🙂

Dear Karina
Just read this blog. So encouraging! And yes oh my, our Christ our LORD heals. During the Covid-lockdown year 2021 my body broke out In horrible itchy rashes for months! Every minute, every hour every night was a nightmare that medications and steroids creams lotions did not work. My skin was nightmarish with bruised, purplish, red patches all over.
My husband and I partake of the Holy Communion every day, sometimes more than once.
I put my trust in Jesus healing, His broken body, the lashes that fell on His back, each time I scratched, and groaned, I repeatedly spoke & prayed aloud that by Jesus stripes, I am healed. Jesus loves me. He wants me well and healthy. As He is in Heaven, at His father’s right hand, with no sickness, no disease, So Am I on this earth.
I stopped all meds by the 6th month because the meds seemed to make my condition worse.
With mustard seed faith, with Holy Communion, by the power of His healing grace, by 50%, 80% 100% 120% my body recovered in the following 6mths… All Glory to Jesus❤️. the devil kills, steals destroys, but Christ comes to give us LIFE, abundant shalom.
Have a blessed healthy year ahead
