  1. Anna I was dreading the mountain on my desk when I read your post. Seeing God’s extraordinary in the mundane needs to be my focus every day! Here’s to being fully focused in each moment as He was (& is!). Blessings & Thank you!

  2. Beautifully written. It’s a good reminder that we serve a wonderful God when we are in the midst of the ordinary.

  3. Q4 brings a dopamine rush that can be difficult to come down from when it’s time to take care of the ordinary and live our everyday lives. Thank you for reminding us to see and embrace the joy in the ordinary and the everyday.

  4. I’m the exact opposite and dread this season starting in September with birthdays and through the end of the year because I’m the one that has to make the magic happen and I’m not up to the task. Anxiety overshadows the enjoyment. Expectations loom. I pray every year to make it a happy time for our family but sadly it’s just a chore and too much of everything. All that to say I look forward to “regular” time. The message is still true since God is with us in all of it, the things we prefer to do and those we don’t.

    • Lori, I image you are more up to the task than you realize If for no other reason than your own words that God is with us and in all of it. Perhaps conversations of what is truly expected and why with those you are working to make magic for might lessen the stress level and give all involved a perspective of the essentials not just the imagined expectations you assume they are valuing. Also asking for help is a great way of teaching others to have magic skills too. Loving in God’s strength is really all the magic any of us need. Praying this year will not be overshadowed with anxiety for you, heavenly sibling. I bet other readers have similar anxieties and coping tips for you plus a whole host of prayer warriors at your back! (((0)))

  5. Amen, Anna! If we live attentively, we can find Q4 joy, even in the ordinary–because “God is present and active in the midst of the very tasks that often seem pointless”–Kimberlee Conway Ireton, The Circle of the Seasons, 61. (Lord, help me remember that and live into that truth each day!)

  6. Being an empty nester and retired, I can look back and see how many years I rushed through the holiday seasons and didn’t take time to fully enjoy it all. With a full time job and two kids, it was just added stuff on top of the ordinary every day stuff. Now, life for me is slower and for the better and I’m able to enjoy it with my grandkids.

  7. Anna,

I don’t like all the holiday hullabaloo. Want to celebrate the true meaning of each holiday.
By slowing down, turning our eyes & attention to Jesus we can be fully present & experience glory in our everyday lives. It’s that simple.

    Blessings 🙂
