  1. Michelle this hits exactly where we are! Thanks for putting into words the bottom line that we do not grieve without hope! Our Sovereign God is our hope in the midst of hard. Blessings!

  2. Dear Michelle, this is so heartening! I too struggle with the news feeds of the day. Sometimes I just skip them. I want to be informed, but maybe that doesn’t have to be a minute by minute process. Our Lord is in control! And He will deliver us and our brothers and sisters! Lament and praise. That’s my mantra.

    • Such a good word, Irene. We should be informed, but taking breaks from news cycles is also good for our souls. God is in control and we can trust him to sovereignly work over anything happening in the world.

  3. Thank you. That was a tremendous gift to me. And thank you for including scripture references. Sending a prayer of blessing.

  4. “Our lament is a sacred testament to God’s promises. Our lament is our hope in a better future — a better future that only God can create.” Yes. So beautifully said. Thank you for pointing us to this path of hope.

  5. I appreciate that you have written about lament. I am reading a book about lament that so far seems very good. It is Dark Clouds, Deep Mercy- Discovering the Grace of Lament by Mark Vroegop.

  6. Michelle,

Lament is a passionate expression of grief or sorrow. The prophet Jeremiah wrote the book Lamentations after the Babylonians destroyed Jerusalem. Jesus even lamented over Jerusalem.
I mourn for the way our society is headed. Seems as though everyone is doing what ever they please, almost like Sodom & Gomorrah. We need more prayer warriors to come before Him & pour our hearts out. We should remember that no matter how bad it gets God is still in control. We can stake our hope in that.

    Blessings 🙂
