The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Here is the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world! This is the one I told you about: ‘After me comes a man who ranks ahead of me, because he existed before me.’ I didn’t know him, but I came baptizing with water so he might be revealed to Israel.” And John testified, “I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and he rested on him. I didn’t know him, but he who sent me to baptize with water told me, ‘The one you see the Spirit descending and resting on — he is the one who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.’ I have seen and testified that this is the Son of God.”
The next day, John was standing with two of his disciples. When he saw Jesus passing by, he said, “Look, the Lamb of God!”
The two disciples heard him say this and followed Jesus. When Jesus turned and noticed them following him, he asked them, “What are you looking for?”
They said to him, “Rabbi” (which means “Teacher”), “where are you staying?”
“Come and you’ll see,” he replied. So they went and saw where he was staying, and they stayed with him that day. It was about four in the afternoon.
Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, was one of the two who heard John and followed him. He first found his own brother Simon and told him, “We have found the Messiah” (which is translated “the Christ”), and he brought Simon to Jesus.
When Jesus saw him, he said, “You are Simon, son of John. You will be called Cephas” (which is translated “Peter”).
John 1:29-42 (CSB)
“Come and see” is the invitation into faith in Jesus. It’s the invitation to draw near, to become witnesses to His power, His grace, His life, and to believe. When doubts swirl in your heart of whether you can trust Him or not, come and see. He will show you in His Word, in your life, and when you have your own testimony of His goodness, say to the next person, “Come and see.”

Come and See, I like that. I am totally dependent on the provision of God…. I don’t know the next stages in his plan all I can do is wait and trust and when the right opportunity comes I can say to whoever is brought across my path, look come and see. I hope firstly my son, husband and daughters.
Yes we can see by trusting Jesus every day. We get up that Jesus will take care of us. We see that if we spend time with Jesus everyday reading his word and saying our prayers. Letting his Holy Spirit speak to us. I can be bad at doing this. As I get so caught up in the business of the day doing stuff that I need to do. Then I get tired. Then spending time with Jesus in prayer and reading his word the Bible goes out the window that day. I do feel guilty. I have not spent the time with Jesus and Come as the title of todays reading says you’ll see. Meaning come see what Jesus has in store for you or what he is going to do in your life. If you will hand everything over to him and trust him. So true. Love today’s reading. Thank you for it Dawn Ferguson-Little xxxx
In Courage,
This world wants proof/evidence of something. People ask how can you believe or trust a God you can’t see? He shows Himself in various ways-by healing people, sending financial help at right time, etc. When doubts& fears swirl in my head I have a God who can handle it. I can turn it over to Him & know He will guide my steps. Non Christians don’t have that. They fret/fear & lose sleep over things. We should be dependent on God for everything. He who formed us & this world can accomplish anything we ask. People just need to come & see. Listen to stories of His miracles & the mercies He shows us daily.
Blessings 🙂
Please pray that I fully trust in Jesus and that I am not anxious. God bless you and thank you!
John the Baptist is such a great scripture to use to illustrate when we “seek” and “come,” we will “see” the glory of God. John also shows us how to wait on the Lord and recognize our servitude. John remained concealed in the wilderness until God called him to make a way for the Lord. Even though John had followers and baptized many in the name of Jesus Christ, he recognized that he was not the worthy one. Humanly, I seek to be like John the Baptist understanding my purpose and calling knowing that Jesus Christ is the Way and the One!
