Over the last year I’ve been working behind the scenes on a message that I hope will encourage many women. So here I sit — typing away with my hands shaking and my heart beating a bit faster than normal. Why? Because I am beyond excited for you to read my upcoming book, Just Open the Door: How One Invitation Can Change a Generation.
Many of you feel like friends, since we’ve been journeying for nearly 10 years here at (in)courage, together in our attempt to balance beauty and bedlam. You’ve witnessed my heart for everyday, imperfect hospitality (especially if you follow me on Instagram), and you know that it’s woven into the fabric of who I am. But you may have thought, “She can do that, but I’m not good at it,” or even, “Hospitality just isn’t my gift.”
I understand that for many of us, inviting people into our lives and homes feels more like inviting judgment on our entertaining skills and stress on our already maxed-out schedules. But what if you knew that opening your front door had the power to radically change the world? To make an impact and leave a legacy with everyday invitations?
Just Open the Door is for every woman in every life stage. Join me in experiencing how one invitation can truly change a generation.
Sweet friend, somewhere along the way we’ve allowed the idea of social entertaining to hijack the true heart of hospitality. Just Open the Door is your personal yes-you-can guide to offering the life-changing gift of invitation.
Every time we choose open-door living — whether in our homes or by taking hospitality on the road — we create a launching pad for so much joy. For me, it’s never perfect . . . but then neither am I.
This book isn’t just for those who are good at meal plans or pretty tablescapes. It’s for every woman who has ever desired more community in her life; whose heart aches for connection but isn’t sure where to start. It’s for introverts and extroverts, for those who love parties as well as those who dread them.
I don’t offer that sentiment lightly. I believe this message matters and I want you to be the first friends to read it — and when you pre-order, you will receive the first 7 chapters right away! You’ll also receive a beautiful printable and an amazing $10 credit at DaySpring.com!
You know how much I love a good deal (hello, Frugal Fashionista!). That $10 to spend at DaySpring is a HUGE perk! Here are a few of my favorites that are basically FREE when you use that credit:
As for Me and My House Wooden Block, $10 (FREE with code!)
Bless This Home Woodwick Candle, $10 (FREE with code!)
Give Thanks to the Lord Throw Pillow, $14.99 (only $4.99 with code!)
Savor the Moments Table Runner, $10 (FREE with code!)
Daily Grace ‘Great God, Grateful Heart’ Pitcher, $14.99 (only $4.99 with code – and this was originally $37.99! So it’s pretty much a steal, and perfect for serving up cold lemonade or iced tea this spring.)
‘Hello, Beautiful’ Hand Thrown Mug, $9.99 (FREE with code!)
Gather at Our Table Mini Wooden Plaque, $6.99 (FREE with code!)
Friends & Family Mini Loaf Pan, $7.99 (FREE with code! And this is perfect for baking up a few mini-loaves of bread to deliver to a neighbor, or keep on hand for friends who drop in.)
Of course there are many more beautiful items that you can get for free or just a few dollars. But these are a few of my very favorite top picks. You’ll have to let me know what you choose to spend your free $10 on!
Besides the FREE printable, first 7 chapters, and the amazing DaySpring credit, you’ll be among the first to receive the book. I’ve been privileged to watch generations impacted by those who opened their door, so I know it’s life changing. And it starts with just one invitation.

P.S. – Don’t worry if you’re still a bit nervous to learn about life-changing, generation-impacting hospitality. Just like on her blog, Jen has included decades worth of her own personal stories that highlight friendships and flops alongside beauty and bedlam, along with practical tips, simple home decor, and meal ideas. There’s plenty of encouragement on how to use what you already have on hand to take that first step, too, because you know Jen’s all about being creative, purposeful, and frugal. $10 preorder code does not include shipping costs.

Hi Jen,
Having read your posts for many years, I consider you the “anti-Martha Stewart” lol. Nothing against Martha, but your brand of hospitality focuses on who is coming to visit, not showcasing your home or your talent. I’ve pre-ordered my book…looking forward to a good read!! How do we get the coupon code? Would love to get a “freebie”….so many pretty things to choose from 🙂 All the best to you in your book launch.
Blessings,
Bev xx

Congratulations, Jen. What a worthy message. I’m so looking forward to reading this book. I have a bunch of books I plan to read on my porch over the summer, and this is one of them! (Summer + Porches + Books = One Happy Brenda. 🙂 ) I pray God blesses this new release with His favor. ((hug))
Thank you so much.
Wouldn’t it be fun to all sit on a porch together and enjoy one, big reading fest. 🙂
Jennifer,
Congratulations on the book release. I pray this blesses women everywhere. You bring new meaning to hospitality. It isn’t about a perfect clean house, but about who is there & why. I love the idea of taking hospitality on the road. I think we just need to take the first step & invite someone to dinner or out for coffee/tea & conversation. I’ve been the recipient of hospitality & try to extend it when I can.
Blessings 🙂
I just caught the tail end of your live feed on Instagram. I’m Hilda and I talked about feeling abandoned by family and friends after the loss of my granddaughter. I loved hearing about your new book and pre-ordered it! I will be praying for your son on his missionary trip and for you love. ♡
